I am so happy with all the families that I’ve gotten to photograph lately! In my almost ten years of business, I’ve seen so many different seasons… there have been years that I haven’t photographed many families at all and it’s been all weddings. There have been years where I photograph a ton of high school seniors and the next year just a few. And years where all of my clients have been from out-of-town and we meet for the first time at their wedding or
session! It’s such a fun fluctuation. Well this winter and spring it has been family, family, family and I have been loving it!
Family relationships are so dear to my heart and it gives me such joy to photograph the relationship between parents and children, siblings with each other, and extended family too! The original plan for this session was to photograph Kam and her sweet toddler, Charlee, in an outdoorsy farm area but, man, the WIND that morning! It was insanely strong and too cold for all three of us. We met there but quickly changed plans to shoot at their home nearby and I’m so glad we did. Toddlers are notorious for not being cooperative during photo sessions and I think being at home helped Charlee loosen up just a little bit. We were fighting against naptime and a grumpy kid and Kam asked me halfway through “what do we do if we get nothing from this session?” I love being able to reassure, nearly every time, that you’d be surprised at the sweet smiles and “in-between” moments that happened! Here are some of my favorite “in-between” moments from that morning…
